The victim of a stabbing during a possible early-morning robbery in the east end has died, but the crime scene is believed to be in a different place from where he was found.

A man in his late 30s was seen exiting a navy-blue, 1999 Ford Explorer and falling to the ground at a gas station across from Scarborough General Hospital, near Lawrence Avenue East and McCowan Road, at 4:46 a.m. on Wednesday.

Hospital workers were alerted to the victim across the street. He was then rushed to the trauma unit at Sunnybrook Hospital where he died of his injuries.

An autopsy hasn't been scheduled yet. The man is Toronto's 29th homicide victim of 2010.

Police believe they have found a crime scene in the area of Danforth Road and Midland Avenue.

Anyone with information that could shed light on when and where the victim was stabbed is asked to contact police at (416) 808-4100 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-8477.

Detectives would especially like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Danforth/Midland area between the times of 3:30 a.m. and 4:46 a.m.
