Police are looking for a suspect after a man was shot to death and another man injured in the city's east end on Friday night.

A hail of gunfire erupted near an apartment building in the McCowan Road and Sheppard Avenue East area around 11:40 p.m.

Police located a man in his 20s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside the building, which is located at 360 Pitfield Road. A second man in his late-20s, who also suffered gunshot wounds, was found inside the building, police said.

Police say that 26-year-old Yousef Sulub, of Toronto, was pronounced dead not long after. Police said the victim was well-known to them.

Shell casings were littered around the building's parking lot, and a car in the area was pocked with several gunshot holes.

CTV Toronto's Jim Junkin reported that the car may have belonged to one of the shooting victims.

The crime scene was so large that the southbound lanes of McCowan had to be closed temporarily.

Inside the apartment building, a unit on the 18th floor was under a police guard on Saturday.

Shots rang out further south on Friday night in an unrelated incident.

Police discovered 12 shell casings near 565 Sherbourne Street, south of Bloor Street around 11 p.m.

Several people were seen fleeing the area, but no one appears to have been wounded, police said.
