Two Toronto parking officers are even less popular than usual after parking in a spot designated for disabled drivers at a west-end Tim Hortons.

An outraged CTV Toronto viewer watched the officers pull into the spot Tuesday night, and quickly snapped a picture of the vehicle.

Melissa Goncalves told CTV News two officers got out of the vehicle and went into the store and sat down. They only came out after noticing Goncalves taking pictures of their vehicle, she said.

"He didn't even think about it twice," she said.

"He parked right there and went in. I don't think it's right, there could have been someone who needed to park there and they couldn't, they took their spot."

CTV's Austin Delaney reported that it is only illegal to park in a disabled spot when the spot is marked on the pavement as well as on the wall above the spot.

At the Tim Hortons, there is no sign in place on the wall, meaning technically the officers weren't breaking the law.

That doesn't wash with one patron of the business who said the drivers were out of line.

"I don't think it's right," he told CTV News. "It's a handicapped spot and it's there for people who can't get in. It's hard enough being handicapped in the city, let alone a lot of buildings aren't even made for handicapped people and are hard to access."

Managers of the Tim Hortons said they are in the process of having signs installed on the wall above the spot.

Parking in a designated disabled spot carries a fine of $450. Toronto police say they are investigating the incident.
