Labour Day marks the unofficial end of summer and Ontarians will try to squeeze as much summer into the weekend as possible, especially with all the kids headed back to school on Tuesday.

Safety is the focus for the OPP on the province's roads and waterways this weekend and they vow to be out in full force. Police say they will be targeting drivers and marine operators who drive too fast and too aggressively.

What's on?

This is the final weekend for the CNE, which means the arrival of the Canadian International Air Show. You can see and hear the planes from just about anywhere downtown, but the best views are lakeside.

A huge celebration of Yiddish and Jewish culture, the Ashkenaz Festival runs all weekend at Harbourfront Centre.

Meanwhile, Torontonians are invited to celebrate Spanish food, music and culture at the annual Hispanic Fiesta at Mel Lastman Square which runs each afternoon and evening all weekend.

The historic Distillery District hosts an outdoor art exhibition of Canadian artists called Artisans at the Distillery. Artists will exhibit works rain or shine between 11:00am and 6:00pm daily all weekend.

On Monday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays will play the Texas Rangers at the Rogers Centre after a weekend series of away games against the New York Yankees.

  • most grocery stores
  • libraries

The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule while GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule.
