Toronto police have released still and video images of a possible suspect and vehicle involved in the city's 37th homicide of 2010.

"In this video … the person we suspect of being responsible for the murder of Mr. (Randy Anthony) Malcolm can be seen," Det. Chris Neal of the homicide squad told a news conference on Friday.

On Aug. 24, police responded to a gunshots call in the Cather Crescent and Trafford Lane area, which is near Flemington Park.

They found Randy Anthony Malcolm, 24, at the rear of 41 Cather Cres. suffering from gunshot wounds to the head. He later died in Sunnybrook hospital.

Another man was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

"Both victims are known to the police," Neal said. "In fact, at the time Mr. Malcolm was shot, he was in possession of a loaded handgun."

Neal showed images of a black man in an oversized white shirt and blue jeans. According to witnesses, the man fired a few shots into the air before lowering his handgun to fire at his two victims -- who were about 40 to 50 metres away, he said.

"He is then seen to flee to an area where he gets into a car, which we believe to be an older-model Nissan Maxima," Neal said.

There may have been one or two other people in the car, he said.

Another young man can be seen running in the same direction as the suspect prior to the shooting. Police want to speak with him.

"I think he may have been in a position to see the both the suspect and the vehicle," Neal said.

The suspect described as being in his mid-20s, 6'2", 190 to 220 lbs.

Neal said there young children out with their families when the gunman started shooting. With bullets found in trees and fencing, "I believe he displayed quite a brazen disregard for the welfare of the people in this area, and that concerns me," he said.
