Unionized hotel workers in Toronto headed to the picket line for the fourth time in two weeks Wednesday morning, this time at the Delta East hotel in Scarborough.

Workers with Unite Here Local 75 went on strike early Wednesday morning at the hotel, located on Kennedy Road just north of Highway 401, in Scarborough.

This strike follows three others at the Fairmont Royal York, the Holiday Inn on Bloor Street and the Hyatt Regency. Those strikes, like this one, were single days of action by the union, who have been without a contract since July 16.

Talks between hotel management and the union broke down in disputes over shift hours, understaffing and increasing workloads, according to a statement released by the union on Wednesday.

The other three strikes, which took place over the weekend, targeted hotels catering to the Toronto International Film Festival. Friday's strike at the Fairmont Royal York got some star support when actor Martin Sheen joined the picket line and gave a speech to workers.
