Toronto police say a person of interest following a double shooting that occurred near Christie subway station Wednesday afternoon is not related to the incident.
A senior Toronto police officer at 14 Division said they still don't know how many suspects in total they should be searching for.
Police told CTV News that the call came in shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Several shots were fired on the street at Bloor Street West and Crawford Street, Const. Tony Vella said.
Toronto EMS said they transported one male to a trauma centre for treatment of a serious gunshot wound to his arm.
A second male patient had their head grazed by a bullet. He was taken to hospital.
Both men are in their mid-20s.Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The following schools had been placed in hold-and-secure mode as a precaution:
- Bloor Collegiate Institute
- Central Tech
- Harbord Collegiate
- the Bickford Centre
- West End Alternative School
The latter is only about one block east of the shooting scene.
The orders were lifted about 2:45 p.m.
Bloor Street West had been closed to traffic between Christie and Shaw Streets while police investigate. It has mostly been re-opened.
The TTC said the subway had been temporarily closed between Ossington and St. George Stations, but resumed at 2 p.m.
Vella asked area residents who saw anything suspicious to call 14 Division at 416-808-1400.
