A Toronto lawyer dropped out of the Ward 32 council seat race on Thursday and announced that he is endorsing a leading opponent of long-term incumbent Sandra Bussin.

Neil Sinclair announced he is endorsing community activist Mary-Margaret McMahon, who is running for the Beaches-East York seat on Toronto City Council.

In a message posted on his website, Sinclair called McMahon "a front-runner" who has earned his trust and respect.

Sinclair is the second Ward 32 candidate to bow out and endorse McMahon. Lawyer Martin Gladstone did the same thing earlier this month.

McMahon is considered one of the main opponents of Bussin, who has represented Beaches-East York since 1997.

Bussin has served as speaker of Toronto City Council and is also a member of the board of the Toronto Transit Commission.
