Toronto police have identified 24-year-old Albert Kiwubeyi of Toronto as the city's 51st homicide victim of 2010.

Police found his body lying on a Shuter Street sidewalk shortly after 3 a.m. Monday, "suffering from an obvious gunshot wound," they said Tuesday in a news release.

An autopsy confirmed Kiwubeyi died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

The incident took place near Shuter and Sackville Green, which is just south of Regent Park. Witnesses saw a man wearing a red and white sweatshirt running south on Sackville Street after the shots were fired.

The shooting came two weeks after a 15-year-old and a 19-year-old were shot and killed in Regent Park on Thanksgiving weekend.
