A cyclist rode around a safety barrier before being struck and killed by a GO Train in Scarborough on Tuesday evening.

Toronto Police Const. Hugh Smith told ctvtoronto.ca that the northbound train hit the westbound cyclist just after 7 p.m. last night.

The collision occurred at a Finch Avenue crossing, east of Kennedy Road.

Smith said the cyclist has been identified as a 54-year-old woman from Scarborough.

The incident remains under investigation.
