Toronto's 54th homicide victim has been identified as 24-year-old Melvin Gomez of Toronto.

Around 3 a.m., officers were called to a reported shooting outside Col. Mustard's pub in the Peanut Plaza near Don Mills Road and Finch Avenue and found three victims with gunshot wounds. Gomez succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Two others were sent to hospital.

"It appears that there was maybe two groups that took sides," said Det. Sgt. Graham Gibson. "I don't know what the argument was about but people took exception to something that happened inside and began to argue back and forth. There might have been some pushing and shoving; there was some talk about that.

"When the suspects left, at least one of them fired a firearm."

Toronto police are looking for two men in their 30s responsible for the overnight shootings.

Staff Sgt. Jim Gotell, of 33 Division, said the pair are both described as having a "brown complexion," he said.

The first suspect is described as a man in his early 30s, 5'5 to 5'6, 120 to 130 lbs. He was seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and a blue baseball cap with ear flaps. He was armed with a handgun.

The second man is described to be in his late 30s, between 6' to 6'2, 260 to 280 lbs and had a lighter complexion than the first suspect. He was seen wearing a grey zippered sweatshirt with a hood, a white shirt with an unknown logo and dark jeans.

Both men fled southbound through the Peanut Plaza after the shooting.

Gotell said homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and witnesses were being interviewed.

"We're canvassing the neighbourhood and interviewing anyone who might have seen what happened," he said.

Gibson said there may have been 80 to 100 people inside the bar when the argument broke out.

"Once the shooting occurred, a lot of them left. So we're asking them to come back," he said.

The fatal shooting followed another report of gunplay near Lawrence Avenue West and Jane Street, an hour earlier.

When police arrived at the scene of that shooting, investigators could not find any victims, but two men later showed up at a nearby hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.

One victim was hit in the neck, the other in the chest.
