TORONTO - York University has shut down its Keele campus in north Toronto following a major fire.

The university says the fire in the utilities building took down the university's steam boilers and co-generators and left the campus without heat.

There have been no casualties and the fire has been extinguished.

All exams scheduled for Tuesday, as well as classes and other on-campus activities, at the Keele campus are cancelled and will be rescheduled.

The university was making arrangements for students who live in residence to be relocated to hotels Monday night, at the university's expense.

The university has asked non-essential staff at the Keele campus not to report for work on Tuesday.

York says Glendon College activities are not affected.
