A teen has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed during what police are calling a carjacking Tuesday night.

Police were called to an apartment at 1 Eccleston Dr., near Eglinton and Sloane Avenues in Toronto's east end, shortly after 7 p.m. and found a 66-year-old man suffering from several stab wounds to the head, face and arms.

The man was taken to Sunnybrook hospital in serious condition. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police allege that the man drove into his parking spot and began walking to the apartment building when he was struck on the head by a 17-year-old youth.

The man was then allegedly stabbed several times in the arms, face and head. Police say he managed to escape, but collapsed in the hallway of his apartment building.

Police say a teenage suspect attempted to leave the scene in the victim's vehicle, but smashed into a tree and then fled on foot.

One suspect was arrested a short time later and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, possession of property obtained during a crime, dangerous operation of a vehicle and failure to comply with recognizance.
