A man was rushed to hospital early Sunday after being shot in the head in Toronto's west end, the third shooting in the city in the past three days.

Police have not released the name of the man, described as in his early 20s, but said he was listed in serious condition after surgery at Sunnybrook hospital.

Officers found him bleeding from a gunshot to the head, in the basement of a building behind a strip mall on Weston Road just south of Lawrence Avenue about 5:30 a.m.

Police were called to the building, described as an after-hours "booze can," by an anonymous call from someone at a nearby party.

Five witnesses later approached detectives with information on the shooting and police are now seeking to interview a "person of interest," described only as a young black man wearing dark clothing.

Sunday's shooting was the third in as many days in Toronto.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Friday, Gregory Taylor, 21, was gunned down outside a west-end apartment building near Black Creek and Trethewey Drive.

Police believe Taylor, acquitted late last year of assault, extortion and kidnapping charges laid in 2009, was lured out onto the street by his killers.

Surveillance recordings from a camera outside the building show him leaving, turning and trying to run before being shot.

Another man, whose name was not released by police, died on his way to hospital after another shooting Friday in the east-end suburb of Scarborough.

The man, who police said was in his early 20s, was Toronto's 10th murder victim so far this year.

He was found in the lobby of an apartment building on Stevenvale Drive, near Lawrence Avenue West and Markham Road, shortly after 7:45 p.m.
