Two Toronto-area doctors charged in connection with a sexual assault at a downtown hotel earlier this month have been released on bail.

Dr. Amitabh Chauhan and Dr. Suganthan Kayilasanathan, both 32, have been accused of gang sexual assault, as well as administering a noxious substance. They were released on $100,000 bail each on Wednesday and are due back in court tomorrow.

The charges were laid after a 23-year-old woman told police she met two men at a Toronto bar on Feb. 13. She says something was slipped in her drink and she was then sexually assaulted in a Toronto hotel.

The woman knows both doctors, police said.

On Sunday, Toronto Police Const. Tony Vella told the media a second complainant had come forward, this time with allegations against only one of the accused. She is not from Toronto and was prompted to call police after hearing of the arrest. Det. Dan Luff said Wednesday that a third woman had also called police.

"There is a thread of similarity," he told CTV News, describing the most recent victim's claims. Police are asking any other potential victims to come forward.

No additional charges have been laid against the doctors, who have been friends since childhood. Kayilasanathan works as a family physician at a clinic on Markham Road, while Chauhan works in the plastic surgery department at Hamilton's McMaster University and is a naval reservist with the Canadian Forces.

The doctors have hired Navigator PR, the same public relations firm that represented former Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant when he was facing charges following a fatal traffic accident with a bike courier.

Their lawyers have said they will plead not guilty.
