A 46-year-old woman accused of using her job as a real estate agent to grow marijuana throughout the Greater Toronto Area has been arrested in Bucharest, Romania.

York Regional Police's Drugs and Vice Unit says Jennifer Wu, 46, was originally arrested and charged with conspiracy and drug charges in 2002.

However, in 2006 a warrant was issued for Wu's arrest after police say she failed to show up to her trial in Newmarket.

At the time of her alleged crimes, police say she was using her job to gain rental properties and then use them to grow cannabis.

Investigators allege she has been linked to 55 marijuana grow operations -- with 30,000 plants -- across the Greater Toronto Area.

In November last year investigators finally located Wu. They say she was operating a daycare in Romania.

Police say that along with the help of the Canadian Department of Justice and the Romanian authorities, Wu was arrested on last month.

On Friday Wu was transported back to Canada and was collected by police at Pearson airport.

Wu has charged with, among other things, production of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, tax evasion and fail to appear

She was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket for a bail hearing today.
