Two people are dead after an early-morning fight in a Brampton home on Friday.

Peel Regional Police have confirmed that a man and woman succumbed to injuries suffered during an altercation at a home near McMurchy Avenue and Charolais Boulevard after 8 a.m.

Police said details are still unclear, but residents are saying the case appears to be a murder-suicide.

Amjum Syed is the owner of the house where the bodies were discovered. He says several teenagers knocked on his door and told him an incident had occurred in his backyard and he was stunned to see what he found.

"I came out and saw both the man and woman seriously injured, lying on the ground," he said.

CTV Toronto's Naomi Parness reports that both individuals had been stabbed and the 43-year-old woman and 46-year-old man were married. Syed said the woman had moved into his basement apartment with her three teenagers a month and a half ago. He says the woman had wanted to escape a violent past with her husband.

"The lady told me she had a conflict with her husband and wanted to move out of the house," said Syed.

Details on what occurred are still not confirmed by police.

Both the woman and her husband were taken to hospital but died of their injuries.

Syed is shocked at what happened in his backyard.

"I feel sympathy for her children -- they will suffer," he said.

The woman, whose first name was Petty, was described as a very quiet, kind-hearted person.
