Police have released the name of the victim in Saturday's fatal stabbing at Bramalea City Centre, and are calling on witnesses to come forward.

Fifteen-year-old Toronto resident Klayton Wynter died Saturday evening at an area hospital after an incident in the mall's parking lot, Peel Regional Police said.

Police took a suspect into custody and four others in for questioning, according to reports from the scene. Officers spent Saturday evening investigating who was involved in the fight before releasing them unconditionally on Sunday.

Police said the stabbing unfolded at about 5 p.m. after "an altercation between two groups of male teens" at the mall. Following the melee, one group of five young males ran away, according to reports.

Officers arriving at the scene found a knife not far from a white car, which is believed to be linked to the incident.

Nerissa Mohabir, a Bramalea City Centre employee, said "Honestly, it's a shock that this would even happen at Bramalea. This is the first time that anything's happened like this."

Condolences have since poured onto Wynter's Facebook page, and three friends who showed up to the scene on Sunday were too upset to speak.

The incident is Peel's sixth homicide of the year.

Homicide investigators said Sunday they believe there are other witnesses who may be able to shed light on the case.

Const. George Tudos said "the mall was busy and there must have been a lot of witnesses to the altercation prior to the stabbing and also at the time of the stabbing."
