GUELPH, Ont. - The Special Investigations Unit has taken over an investigation from the Guelph Police after a standoff ended with two men dead.

Guelph police were called to a disturbance, on 199 Alice Street, Guelph, Saturday afternoon and found two men suffering from stab wounds.

Both were taken to hospital where a 58-year-old Guelph man was pronounced dead and a 55-year-old from Cambridge was treated and released.

A third man went to his basement apartment and would not come out.

Police closed the street and the tactical unit set up watch outside the building housing Roger's Garage.

After nearly six hours, police entered the residence and found a 45-year-old man dead.

Police have not released their names.
