Drivers saw another leap in gas prices on Wednesday with the average price in Toronto breaching the 140 cents per litre mark.

After a record increase of 6.5 cents on Tuesday, a further 1.5 cents per litre was added on Wednesday, leaving the average price at 141.1.

The price in Toronto is above the provincial average of 139.14 cents per litre and well above the national average of 132.86 cents per litre.

Meanwhile regions surrounding the GTA saw lower prices with Barrie's average at 138.9 cents per litre, Kingston's average price at 134.2 and Kitchener-Waterloo at 138.9, according to tomorrowsgaspricestoday.com.

Other cities fluctuated well above and below Toronto's average price.

Montreal motorists saw an average of 149.3 cents per litre and Winnipegers saw 121.9 cents per litre.

The current crude price is largely steady at $98.4 per barrel.

Some fear high prices will not let up any time soon considering Torontonians suffered two price rises over as many days.

Our website, toronto.ctv.ca/gas, lists Costco at Warden Ave. and Canadian Road and Costco at Queen Elizabeth Drive near Taymall Ave. as the two cheapest sites in the city at 133.9 cents per litre.
