A 26-year-old man is dead following a shooting in northwest Toronto late Thursday night.

Police were called to 2901 Jane St., south of Finch Avenue West, shortly after 10 p.m. and found Andrew Stewart, 26, of Toronto with obvious gunshot wounds and without vital signs.

Officers performed CPR on Stewart until paramedics arrived. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

More than 40 people were gathered at the address, police said.

The suspect is described as male, brown, five-foot-six to five-foot seven in height, with a thin face and thin build. He has short braided hair.

A vehicle was also seen speeding away from the scene.

Police said Stewart is well-known in the area and investigators are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

This is Toronto's 24th homicide this year.
