A teenager is dead after falling 50 feet down the Scarborough Bluffs Thursday night.

Police said the 17-year-old was standing at the edge of the bluffs with a small group of people near Scarborough Crescent, where he was attending a party.

A 911 call was placed at about midnight, but police say they were not contacted immediately after the fall.

Emergency crews took several hours to find the teen. His body was found just before 3 a.m., according to EMS.

Police said the incident was a "death by misadventure."

Some members of the group who were with the young man at the time of fall were interviewed.

According to police, some tried helping the young man, however, they were unsuccessful.

Police have notified the next of kin.
