The federal government has added the names of 32 fugitives to its most-wanted website in hopes Canadians will recognize the individuals and turn them in.
The new additions are all permanent residents who have been convicted of serious crimes in Canada and now face deportation.
Public Safety Minister Vic Toews said all 32 originally came to Canada as legitimate immigrants.
"Unfortunately these individuals subsequently abused our laws, our generosity and our trust," Toews said at a news conference.
He added: "The persons being identified today engaged in acts which resulted in serious criminal convictions in Canada. As such they abused a valued privilege and are no longer welcome in our country."
The announcement comes after the federal government released in July an original list of 30 individuals who were in Canada illegally.
The Canada Border Service Agency's website, which hosts the "Wanted by the CBSA" page, stated the individuals on the original list were wanted for removal because they are considered "inadmissible to Canada."
The website states, "It has been determined that they violated human or international rights under the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act or under international law."
According to the government, seven of the 30 on the original list have now been apprehended thanks to tips from Canadians, and three of them have been deported.
One of the seven was determined to be living outside of Canada.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the wanted individuals is asked to report any information to CBSA.
