TORONTO - Toronto police have concluded a seven-year international investigation by charging three men with allegedly exporting drugs to Japan.
Police say they believe the three men were responsible for shipping 27.5 kilograms of crystal meth from Canada to Japan in June 2004.
The investigation first began when five people were arrested at Japan's Narita Airport and the drugs were seized.
One of the men had fled Canada to avoid prosecution but was arrested in California and returned to Canada to face the charges.
Police have charged 52-year-old Mansour Boroumand of California, 47-year-old Masih Boroumand of Thornhill and 41-year-old Massoud Feizabadi of Toronto with various offences, including exportation of a controlled substance.
Two of the men are to appear in a Toronto court Friday while the other man appeared was released on bail after a Wednesday court appearance.
