A Crown lawyer pressed a kidnapping suspect to reveal the whereabouts of his missing wife during court proceedings Friday in Brampton, Ont.

Macdermid Ermacora, 43, was arrested and charged with kidnapping his estranged wife after she went missing early Thursday morning.

After the first day of searches were unsuccessful, Crown attorney Steve Sheriff told a court that "this is the most serious bail hearing we've had this year."

He said efforts to locate the man's estranged wife, 42-year-old Raquel Junio, will continue "with or without (the suspect's) help."

"We're trying to find her," Sheriff said.

But the bail hearing was postponed until next Wednesday to give the Crown more time to gather evidence.

Ermacora is charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement and assault. He was arrested in Brampton at around 7 a.m. Thursday.

Police believe Junio was abducted from the couple's Brampton home at Deerfield Crescent that morning.

According to police, there was a struggle outside the couple's home and Junio was forced into a truck.

Meanwhile, friends of the missing woman told CTV Toronto's Tamara Cherry that the couple's marriage had been deteriorating over the past few weeks.

Co-workers at the Brampton thrift store where Junio worked said that she had recently bought some furniture and was planning to move out from the home she lived in with her husband. She was also looking forward to taking her two children with her.

On Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police took part in a search of a property near Nottawa, south of Collingwood. Police said the property is associated with the suspect's family.

The property search concluded Friday afternoon with no real leads, investigators said.

Police said they remain hopeful Junio will be located alive.

With Junio still missing, police are reaching out to the public for help in their investigation, with attention focused on Ermacora's black, 2003 Ford F-350 truck.

Investigators released grainy video of the vehicle travelling in the area of Kennedy Road and Vodden Street early Friday morning. Police also believe the truck was in the Bolton and Caledon areas.

Pete Bellis, who manages the Talize thrift store where Junio works, said she is an outgoing and well-composed person who appeared happy.

Workers at the store are planning a weekend vigil and are hoping for Junio's safe return.

Junio is described as being of Filipino descent, 5-feet-2 inches tall, 120 pounds with shoulder length black hair and brown eyes.

Ermacora is a mechanic by trade and his brother is a Toronto police officer. His father worked for the Ontario Provincial Police.
