A man in his early 20s has died after being shot multiple times in an east-end Toronto parking lot late Sunday night.

Police responded to the shooting at about 11:30 p.m. on Parma Court just south of Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.

The victim suffered several gunshot wounds to his torso, said Toronto Emergency Medical Services.

Emergency crews transported the man to a nearby hospital, where police said he later succumbed to his injuries.

"I heard a bang, bang, bang, that quickly" one resident told CTV Toronto. "I thought it was firecrackers."

No arrests have been made and the victim's identity has not been released.

This is not the first murder in the neighbourhood. Five years ago on Thanksgiving weekend, 20-year-old Kareme Parks was shot dead on the stairs of a nearby apartment.

Police are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call them at 416-808-5404 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
