An Air Canada Jazz plane returned to Toronto's Pearson Airport shortly after takeoff after a crew member fell ill on Monday.

The plane, with 75 passengers and four crew members on board, was heading to Fredericton, N.B. It was forced to turn back to Toronto just after 3 p.m.

Emergency crews met the plane and took one patient to the hospital.

Earlier reports had said the plane turned back due to a lack of pressurization. Those reports were false, said an Air Canada spokesperson.

After the detour, flight 8954 departed again for Fredericton.
