The bride wore white and the groom a crisp suit, but rather than standing at the altar, this Toronto couple stood in the middle of a boxing ring.

Miranda Jollymore and Ibrahim Kamal were married on Sunday in the Cabbagetown gym where they met three years ago.

"It only seemed right and perfect for us to get married and tie the knot right here at the gym," Kamal told CTV Toronto.

Kamal, known as "Firearm" by boxing enthusiasts, has been competing for Canada since he moved here from Libya nine years ago.

Jollymore had dreams of going competitive until she suffered a spinal cord injury. She now runs a boxing-based charity for at-risk youth.

"My injury became a blessing," Jollymore said. "Now, even though I can no longer compete, I do what I love everyday."

Kamal, an eight-time Canadian champion with six victories under his belt, has spent a lot of time in the ring, but on Sunday he got to do something he's never done before.

"This time I get to kiss my opponent," he said. "I get to kiss my bride."
