One worker was trapped for more than two hours after a trench caved in at a home construction site in Toronto's west end Thursday afternoon.

Emergency Medical Services said a construction crew was doing work on the basement of a home at 200 Kingsview Boulevard in the Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road area shortly before 5:00 pm when the wall collapsed.

Initial reports said that two were trapped under the rubble, but one was quickly freed.

About two dozen firefighters scrambled to free the man who was trapped from the waist down.

The extent of the injuries were not immediately available.
