Almost 1,200 City of Toronto workers may be laid off as part of Mayor Rob Ford's cost-cutting measures for next year's budget.

Numbers released on Wednesday show that 666 union jobs have been targeted for elimination, with another 634 vacant union jobs remaining unfilled.

Other job eliminations include 48 current employees and 94 vacant positions at the management level.

The Toronto Public Library will see 152.5 jobs cut and Toronto Police Services will see 372 positions gone. Police Services will also defer hiring 353 jobs.

The TTC has already served notice to 324 workers.

The city said earlier this week that it planned on cutting roughly 2,300 positions through buyouts, layoffs and eliminating vacancies.
