Fire destroyed the Toronto Argonauts training facility in Mississauga early Saturday.

Firefighters were responding to a 1:33 a.m. call at the University of Toronto's Erindale Campus, where they found the football club's training centre filled with heavy smoke. Soon after, flames began shooting through the roof.

More than 16 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene and four pumper trucks were still dousing the blaze eight hours later.

The building, which sits beside the Canadian Football League team's practice field, was totally destroyed.

A Mississauga Fire Department spokesperson said there is no reason yet to believe the fire is suspicious, although Peel police are investigating.

In a statement, the Argos said no one was injured in the blaze, which started in the coaches' building.
