Toronto police are investigating after a man was found dead in the hallway of an east-end apartment building Monday morning.

Officers were called to the 15th floor of a Regent Park apartment on Oak Street, near Bayview Avenue, shortly before 7 a.m. after a building resident discovered a body in the hallway.

Investigators said the victim was an adult male in his 50s who had suffered trauma to the head.

Police said that two males were taken into custody, but no charges have been laid.

Police consider the death suspicious; homicide detectives have been called in to investigate.

One resident told CTV Toronto that police were canvassing the building on Monday.

"They're letting people know that we're safe and they're not speaking about what's going on," he said, adding that police asked him what time he went to bed and if he heard any noises.

Police said they have identified the victim but are not releasing his name until family has been notified.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
