A Brampton woman made a brief court appearance on Thursday while police continue to hunt for her son in connection to the death of a 73-year-old man found by the side of the road earlier this week.

Wendy Martineau, 48, was charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder after being arrested in her Brampton home on Wednesday. She was remanded into custody and will return to court on Jan. 3.

Police identified the body found by a road north of Bolton, Ont. as that of Ivan Newton Davison, of Brampton. They said blunt-force trauma was the cause of death.

His remains were discovered Monday near the Caledon-King Townline South -- also known as Mount Wolfe Road.

York Regional Police say they are still looking for James Martineau, 29, who is wanted for murder.

Police said Davison and the Martineaus lived together in the area of Main and Queen Streets in Brampton.

James Martineau is described as white, 5'10'', 160 pounds. He has short, brown hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a man running with a hatchet on the ride side of his right neck and another tattoo of the word "Chayce" in script on the left side of his left side neck.

York police believe Martineau is still in southern Ontario, but they do say he has family in Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Police say Martineau may have shaved his head to disguise his appearance and may be wearing scarves and jackets to cover his tattoos.

"It is entirely possible that he has altered his appearance if he knows that he is wanted, but he does have some distinctive facial features," said Const. Rebecca Boyd.
