A Toronto man accused of stabbing a co-worker in the neck inside a Chinatown restaurant was remanded in custody Thursday after making a brief court appearance.

The man, identified as 57-year-old Chi Kuan, faces numerous charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and breach of recognizance.

The suspect was charged after an argument escalated, leading to the stabbing inside the kitchen of Chinese Traditional Buns at 536 Dundas St. W. on Wednesday.

Police responded to the restaurant after a female, who was stabbed in the neck, ran out of the kitchen bleeding. A man was also reportedly bleeding.

Both the victim and the accused are employees at the restaurant.

The woman was rushed to hospital for surgery and was listed in grave condition. Reports early Thursday morning suggested her heath had deteriorated overnight.
