One man is dead following a shooting outside a Scarborough playground in broad daylight Friday morning.

Toronto police said a 20-year-old man was found suffering from several gunshot wounds behind a building on Lawrence Avenue East, east of Markham Road, shortly after 11 a.m.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, then seeing two suspects fleeing toward a nearby mall.

Emergency crews said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The victim appears to be targeted and I don't think this is a random shooting at this time," Det. Sgt. Brett Nicol of the Toronto Police homicide squad told reporters.

Officers are currently searching the area for two suspects.

Descriptions of the two suspects are vague, but officers are on the hunt for two men in their early 20s. They are considered armed and dangerous.

The Toronto Police Emergency Task Force, as well as the K-9 unit is on site and participating in the search.
