Hamilton police have charged a 25-year-old man with murdering two people and attempting to stab three others to death.

Police said they arrested Loujack Nougues Café, who has no fixed address, without incident on Friday.

He's been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of Laura Young and George Washington Burnett.

Young's body was discovered in February 2011, behind a home at 116 Cathcart St. in Hamilton.

Seven months later, Burnett was found murdered in his home at 55 Stirton Ave. At the time, police said they believed the 83-year-old victim knew his killer.

Café has also been charged with attempted murder in three other incidents, all of which involved stabbing and happened between November and December last year.

Police said his arrest is the result of a 48-hour effort from the force's homicide unit, forensic team, technical crime unit, detectives and more.
