The jovial atmosphere that normally accompanies Rob Ford's weekly weigh-in was absent on Monday as the mayor quickly left the event, declining to answer questions about the affairs of city hall.

With a tentative agreement reached between the city and CUPE Local 416 -- and recent pressure placed on Ford's subway expansion plan -- reporters were quick to lob questions at Ford during the public appearance.

Mayor Ford weighed in at 310 lbs. – four pounds less than last week – before hopping off the scale and returning to his office.

His brother, Coun. Doug Ford, was left to face reporters, but also declined to comment on anything but the weight-loss challenge.

"If you wanna talk about weight loss, we can talk about weight loss. I did lousy this week and need to come back swinging," Doug Ford said, after weighing in at 259 lbs., for a half-pound drop.

At 310 lbs., Rob Ford has lost 20 lbs. since starting his "Cut the Waist Challenge" on Jan. 16 at 330 lbs.

Doug Ford has lost a total of 16 lbs., after starting the campaign at 275 lbs.

Members of the public are invited to join the brothers in losing weight by logging on to a website where people can share their stories.

Residents who are interested in making a donation are encouraged to send their contributions directly to a charity of their choice.

A meter at cutthewaist.ca says $389.36 has been pledged for every pound the pair loses through the weight-loss challenge.
