A small group of people were kicked off the Rideau Canal Tuesday for dancing on skates.

Members of the troupe called Le Patin Libre are urban skating performers. They have taken their act to frozen surfaces all over the world and say it's the first time they've ever been booted off.

When CTV contacted officials with the National Capital Commission, reporters were informed the troupe was warned and asked to leave because they were soliciting and creating a dangerous environment. The NCC says the troupe is in violation of canal rules.

The troupe denies that what they do creates a dangerous environment and plans to hold a skating party at 9 o'clock Tuesday night.

Alexandre Hamel is a member of Le Patin Libre and says they were upset by the warning from RCMP and accusation that they were posing a safety risk to other skaters.

They plan to go ahead with Tuesday night's event in spite of heavy warnings.
