A Scarborough boy who had his bike stolen on Sunday received a brand new bike on Tuesday after a CTV viewer saw his story and was moved to action.

Greg Lesick saw the report about Brian Peterson, 15, on Tuesday's evening newscast.

Brian says he was pushed off his bike by an older teen in Scarborough's McGregor Park Sunday afternoon. The teen allegedly punched Brian in the arms and chest and rode away on the bike.

Besides his bike being stolen, Brian has some other challenges to overcome. He takes about half a dozen pills each day to control his epilepsy.

Brian's mom, Denise Peterson, just lost her job. His father, Rick Peterson, is recovering from heart surgery.

Brian told CTV Toronto the bike was his "pride and joy."

"That bike was something I could really enjoy doing," he said. "I liked to ride so much. Without it, I just, I don't really feel like going outside."

His mom said Brian didn't want to go outside for two days after his bike was stolen, and the family was worried that he might have another seizure after the incident.

"Now the doctor has upped his medication again," she said.

She was left wondering why her son was targeted in this attack.

"You were bigger than him. He's younger. Why did you have to pick on him?" his mom asked.

Lesick was so moved by the report that he went straight to the store and bought a new bike to bring over to the Peterson household.

"It kind of broke my heart to see him with no bicycle," said Lesick. "It's a small thing. It's something I was able to do."

Lesick was one of many viewers moved by the story.

Phones at CTV Toronto started ringing as soon as the story aired, with dozens of offers to give Brian a new bike, or to donate money towards the purchase of a new bike.

Many viewers also called the Peterson household directly with similar offers.

Brian was thrilled with his new ride, a red CCM mountain bike.

"I love it," he said. "I don't know what to say."

Brian said he was blown away with all the reaction to his story.

"There are so many good people who want to help," Brian said. "It just blows my mind."
