A construction worker was trapped after more than 600 pounds of concrete fell on his leg Wednesday afternoon.

The man was working at a construction site near Woodbine Avenue and Elgin Mills Road, police said.

York Regional Police said the man's foot was caught in a deep hole, and 600-700 lbs. of concrete fell on his leg around 1:45 p.m.

The man does not have life-threatening injuries, and has been transported to York Central Hospital, according to police.

The Ministry of Labour has been called in to look into the incident.
