The family of a 19-year-old who was killed last week in the city's west end is pleading for witnesses to come forward.

Shane Williams was fatally shot on Wednesday night near Dundas Street West and Scarlett Road. He had just gotten off a bus on his way home, when police believe a vehicle then pulled up to the curb and one of the occupants fired several times.

Williams was struck in the chest and died later in hospital, making it the city's 13th homicide of the year.

Cameron Holder, Williams' father, issued an emotional plea on Tuesday for anyone with information to call police.

"I'm begging anyone that knows anything about it, even if you might think it's not relevant or it's not important, call the police, call Crime Stoppers… We need your help," Williams told reporters.

"This is not about my son anymore," he added. "This is about Toronto, this is about the youths. We need to stop this senseless killing."

Last Thursday, Const. Tony Vella said several witnesses who saw the vehicle approached police with information. But there have been no arrests in the case.

Police have released surveillance images of three people, who were on the bus Williams was travelling on right before the shooting, and asked them to come forward. It's not clear whether any of the three people have spoken to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1300 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222 TIPS (8477).
